Refund policy generator for subscription support teams
A refund policy that agents can quote saves an argument per ticket. Set your windows and exceptions to get plain text you can paste into your help center.
Your policy
Acme refund policy Monthly plans can be refunded in full within 7 days of the charge. Annual plans can be refunded in full within 30 days of the charge. What we don't refund: - Add-ons and usage charges - Accounts closed for breaking our terms To ask for a refund, email billing@example.com. Acme will answer within two business days, and approved refunds go back to the original payment method.
Questions
How long should a refund window be?
Seven to thirty days is common for subscriptions. Pick a window you can honour without a debate, and make annual plans at least as generous as monthly ones, since the charge is bigger.
Should I refund annual plans after the window?
It is a choice, not a rule. Refunding unused full months keeps goodwill with customers who leave early, at the cost of some revenue. If you do, say so in the policy so agents do not decide case by case.
What belongs in the exceptions list?
Anything you already decline, such as usage charges, one-off services, or accounts closed for breaking your terms. Listing them up front is kinder than refusing later.
Is this legal advice?
No. Some places give customers refund or cooling-off rights that a policy cannot remove. Check the rules where you sell, and have a lawyer review the final text.
Is anything I type saved?
No. The policy is built in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
